Client Portal - Autopay Explained

Autopay in the Client Portal allows Clients to give you permission to charge their card for future Services. This means you can charge the card on file for an Invoice as soon as it's generated, so you don't have to wait for the Client to approve or pay the Invoice on their own.

Autopay Defined

Service Autopilot considers a Client enrolled in Autopay if the Client has a credit card on file and their payment method is set to a credit card type. For example, this Client is effectively enrolled in Autopay because they have a credit card on file and their payment method is Visa.

Important: If a Client is enrolled in Autopay, their card will not be charged automatically. However, you will find their generated Invoices under the Invoices to Charge tab so you can charge them. More info on charging Invoices can be found here.

Autopay from the Client's Perspective

If the Autopay Client Portal setting is enabled, then the Client can opt in or out of Autopay on the Client portal using the "Authorize to Charge" toggle under the Account tab. More on Client Portal settings can be found here.

Note: If the Autopay setting is not turned on for the Client Portal, the Client will still see their Account auto-enrolled in Autopay as long as they have a credit card on file and their payment method is a credit card type.
